Description:

The fellowship offered is community based with a high volume of primary and revisional bariatric procedures, advanced endoscopic bariatric procedures, robotic bariatric procedures and primary general surgical procedures.  The fellow will work closely with surgeon participants and will have the opportunity to conduct clinical research.  The program participants perform over 1400 cases per year with a broad variety of exposure for the fellow. The fellow also has the ability to perform a significant amount of advanced laparoscopic cases at our private, physician owned 4 OR suite ambulatory surgery center on the 1st floor in the building our Las Colinas office is located in. Approximately 50-70 cases a month are done at the ASC.  It is a great opportunity to experince the efficiency of how a private surgical practice operates outside of large inefficient hospital systems. There is no robot at the ASC so it is also a place where the fellow can strengthen their laparoscopic skills.  Robotic cases are performed at the hospital which currently has 3 XI systems and a dual console.  The plan is for the, to be upgraded to the new DV5 system in the near future.
